Gender Differences

Gender differences were instilled in us the minute we are born.  Girls are surrounded and dressed in pink and boys were wearing dark earth colors especially in blue.  In our family my brother and I were the only siblings in our family.  I am 4 years older than my brother.  I remember when he was born and I was watching my mom changing his diaper, I pointed at my brother’s penis and asked my mom why he has one and I do not? My mom laughed and told me that because he is a boy.  I just shrugged and walked away.  Later on through the years of growing up all I hear is that your brother is a boy and he can go and do things that boys do and girls cannot and need to stay home and learn girly things.  I also heard all my young life that girls wear dresses and boys wear pants.  Of course as I got older I refused to listen to those statements and did whatever I wanted to do.
